Fukushima Prefecture (福島県 Fukushima-ken?) is a prefecture of Japan located in the Tōhoku region on the island of Honshū. The capital is the city of Fukushima.

Due to the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami centered in the neighboring Miyagi Prefecture to the north, the prefecture sustained substantial damage and particular attention as a result of the Fukushima nuclear accidents at the Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant in the town of Ōkuma in the Futaba District of the prefecture, due to the damage of several nuclear reactors. Some 210,000 people have been affected by evacuation orders due to fears that a radiation leak may occur that would be significant enough to harm public health.
